The primary goal with any rehabilitation regime is to improve
the function of the patient and/or return normal levels of activity
as quickly as possible. This objective is accomplished by decreasing
pain and swelling (edema), enhancing joint biomechanics, restoring
normal joint mobility, increasing strength, and improving proprioception
(sense of position in space). The mission of rehabilitation is
fulfilled when the patient is able to play, run, and walk without
pain.
