Matthew J. Chavkin, DVM, MS, Diplomate ACVO
Dr. Matthew Chavkin is board certified by the American College
of Veterinary Ophthalmologists. Dr. Chavkin graduated from Cornell
University and completed a small animal internship and ophthalmology
residency at Colorado State University. He has been in practice
at VRCC since 1994.
Dr. Chavkin specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases
in animals. “The thing I love best about performing cataract surgery
isn't the technical aspect, but the moment when the pet is finally
able to see its family again. It's great to be a part of that happiness.”
Tanja Nuhsbaum, DVM, MS, Diplomate ACVO
Tanja Nuhsbaum is a veterinary ophthalmologist at VRCC. She joined
Animal Eye Specialists in October of 2001. She earned a Bachelor
of Science degree at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana
followed by eight years of education at Colorado State University
and the University of Guelph, in Canada. She completed her ophthalmology
residency at CSU and became a boarded member of the American College
of Veterinary Ophthalmologists in August of 2001.

clients with a common goal in mind: to assist and benefit the visual
needs of their special, four-legged family members.”
Kim Hartman, MA, CVT, Practice Manager
Kim first came to know VRCC as a client after being referred to
Veterinary Cancer Specialists with her Great Dane “Maggie”,
in need of chemotherapy. After many years of working
in corporate positions for companies such as Citibank and Qwest,
she decided to make a soul-filling career change into the veterinary
field, influenced greatly by seeing the care and expertise “Maggie” received. Kim
became a VRCC employee in 2004 as a Technician Assistant and began
coursework in a Veterinary Technology program. She completed
the A.A.S. degree in 2006 and is now a Certified Veterinary Technician. Additionally,
she now enjoys the opportunity of contributing to the Veterinary
field by merging previous work experience with newly acquired veterinary
clinical knowledge as the Practice Manager for Ophthalmology.
Kim and her husband Brian share their Lone Tree home with two previous
VRCC blood donor cats, “Angel” and “Tizzy”, as well “Ki” a
Shepherd mix and “Loki” a Belgian Terverun.
Amanda Johnson, AAS, CVT
Amanda moved to Colorado from Alaska to attend the Bel-Rea Institute
of Animal Technology. She graduated from Bel-Rea in June of 2000
with an Associate Degree in Animal Science. Amanda joined VRCC in
2000 with the Internal Medicine department and joined the Ophthalmology
team in March 2002.
Amanda has 5 dogs (Doberman, Shiba Inu and Wire-haired Vizslas) and
enjoys training and showing them. She is also the proud guardian of
three cats.
Amanda Meredith, LVT, BS
Amanda graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor
of Science degree in Wildlife Biology and certification in Veterinary
Technology. She worked at a clinic specializing in avian and exotic
care before coming to VRCC's Ophthalmology department in March 2004.
She has one handsome dog named Luke.
Krisha
Hiett, CVT, BA
Krisha received her Bachelor of Arts in degree in Business at Texas
A&M University in 2000. She moved to Denver in the winter of
2002 to pursue her dream of working with animals by attending Bel-Rea
Institute of Animal Technology and working at a general practice.
Krisha graduated in June 2004 and worked with the Neurology department
at VRCC before joining the Ophthalmology department in July 2005.
Krisha has a Border Collie named Lucy and an iguana named Checkers. She enjoys playing Frisbee and running
agility courses with Lucy.
Alison
Loggie, Client Service Coordinator
Alison moved from Chicago in 2000 and joined the VRCC team in 2002
as a Client Service Representative Manager. She will soon graduate
with a degree in Business Management. In 2005, she joined the Ophthalmology
department. Alison's kids are two goofy, clumsy Great Danes named
Kai and Layla, and a crazy, fluffy cat named Flipper.
