The Veterinary Referral Center of Colorado provides 24 hour care
for our hospitalized patients. There is always a veterinarian
and technician on the premises to monitor our patients.
Dr. Diehl or Dr. Wheeler will communicate with you daily, updating
you on your pet's condition. That call will typically be made
by mid morning following case rounds. An additional late afternoon
call will also be made to you in most cases. If your pet is unstable
or additional test information is expected, the doctor will call.
If your pet is stable, a technician will make the afternoon call.
Dr. Diehl or Dr. Wheeler will always call if there is an unexpected
or troublesome change in the status of your pet. The night-time
veterinarians are in immediate contact with the primary or on-call
clinician who will contact you promptly. Although calls to check
on a patient's condition may be made in the evening, they are
not encouraged, since the night-time staff may not be able to
answer
any in-depth questions or comment on long term treatment plans.
Visiting hours
Visiting hours are from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm Monday through Friday.
Please call in advance so that we can arrange for your visit.
Weekend visitation must be arranged through the emergency service.
In our
experience, patients exhaust quickly and benefit from short visits
only, therefore visits will be limited to 30 minutes. If your
pet is very critical, we may limit visitations to only 10 minutes.
