Patients are seen by appointment only.
Appointments are generally Monday through Friday. Please call
303-874-2078 to schedule an appointment with Dr. Messinger or Dr.
Strauss. We see patients at our main office in Englewood, CO and
at our satellite offices in Parker, CO and Colorado Springs, CO.
NEW PATIENTS - What to expect/bring
- Before you arrive - To help us best assess your pet's skin
condition, we ask that you follow these guidelines:
- Please do
not feed your pet after midnight the night before your pet's
appointment; water is OK.
- Please do not bathe your pet for at
least 3-4 days before your pet's appointment.
- Please do not apply
any topical medications to your pet's skin for at least 24-48
hours prior to your pet's appointment. Do not put ear medications
or flushes in your pets’ ears
the morning of your appointment.
- Please arrive 15-20 minutes prior to the scheduled appointment
to complete the paperwork for your pet.
For your convenience, some of the forms may be downloaded and
completed prior to your pet's appointment.
During the Visit
In order to obtain a thorough dermatological history and examination,
please plan on spending 1-2 hours during the first visit. In addition,
we may ask that you leave your pet with us for several hours so
we can collect and evaluate samples and write a report for you
and for your veterinarian. We will try to accommodate your schedule
so you can go back to work or run errands during this part of the
initial exam.
Please make a list of or bring any medications, nutritional supplements,
and topical therapies that are currently being used or have been
used in the past on your pet. This helps us to know what "pink
pill" your pet is/was receiving. We will need to know what
diet your pet is being fed. Please do not rely on medical records
for this information.
If possible, please bring a copy of your pet's medical records
from his/her veterinarian for us to keep. It is very important
that we have this information to provide the best treatment options.
It's always better to be over-prepared for your pet's appointment.
If you are interested in intradermal allergy testing for your
allergic pet, please review the topic "Allergy Test Preparation” and “Allergy
Testing” on this website.
Post Visit
All home care instructions are typed for your convenience.
Please do not hesitate to call Dr. Messinger, Dr. Strauss or their
technicians if you have any questions, concerns or comments. Remember
that the dermatology department is available Monday through Friday.
However, you may call VRCC 24-hours a day, 7 days a week and speak
with someone. We have a terrific emergency service that will help
answer questions when dermatology is unavailable.
Cancellations/Rescheduling
If you find it necessary to change or cancel your appointment,
please let us know at least 24-hours in advance by calling 303
874 2078. By contacting us to reschedule or cancel an appointment,
we can let other patients have that appointment time. We keep a
cancellation list for clients/patients to get in sooner as appointments
become available. If you do not show for an appointment and have
not called to cancel at least 24 hours in advance, you may be responsible
for a cancellation fee.
