Examination
Every pet that enters Central Veterinary Emergency Services (CVES) for treatment receives an examination by our attending Doctor. The Doctor will discuss your pet’s condition with you and will help you decide on the best treatment plan for your family friend.

Lab Work
CVES has a large range of laboratory capabilities. Diagnostic blood samples can be collected and run at any hour using the "state-of-the-art" in-house regional laboratory ANTECH diagnostic labs. Urine and stool samples can be viewed for rapid diagnosis. Lab results can also be viewed on-line for quick reference at a later date.

Digital Radiography
Radiographs or X-rays are often used as a diagnostic tool. Digital radiography is faster and allows us to e-mail the images to your family veterinarian for review.

Ultrasound
CVES Doctors have the capability to perform preliminary ultrasound imaging. In an emergency this can help to diagnose fluid around the heart, assist in safely obtaining samples of urine, abdominal fluid, or thoracic fluid, or to look for masses.

Hospitalization

Should your pet need to stay with us for a couple hours, overnight or over a weekend there are warm comfy cages with fleece pads to safely house your cat or dog of any size. Your pet is always visible to the Doctor and Technicians on shift. Cages are equipped with fluid pumps, and oxygen outlets. All cages are large enough to provide portable intensive monitoring devices and heat support.

Specialist Consultation
If your pet needs a consultation with or treatment by a specialist, we do our very best to contact a Doctor in that Specialty for you and arrange a plan for further care. The fact that CVES is housed in the VRCC with eight other specialty practices is a great advantage to you and your pet.
