Echocardiography
An echocardiogram (ultrasound) is performed to non-invasively "look" inside
the heart. With this modality we can watch the heart work, see chambers and enlargements,
watch blood flow to see leaks across heart valves, and measure pressures inside
the heart. We have a non-portable, very sensitive, cardiac-dedicated ultrasound
machine with color flow and spectral Doppler. The same kind of machine is in
use in many human hospitals. Almost every pet we examine will have an echocardiogram
performed.
We have the ability to support critical animals with oxygen in
a variety of ways during an exam.
